When a yearly anniversary falls today, the countdown reads zero. A relationship or wedding date from today points to its first anniversary next year. For a February 29 date, we use February 28 in years without a leap day.

How does the anniversary countdown work?

What if our date is February 29?
For a February 29 start date, the countdown uses February 28 in years without a leap day. In leap years, it uses February 29.
